2020 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru 92+ pts at Vinous
The 2020 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru is matured for 14 months in stainless steel. It is stubbornly backward on the nose despite coaxing, just a touch of reduction that soon becomes dislodged, allowing granite and flint aromas to surface. The palate is very well balanced with a sline entry, fine depth, hints of mandarine and desiccated orange peel, though I need just a little more tension to come through on the finish. Promishing though, promising. Tasting blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis.
2020 Chablis Bougros Grand Cru 89 pts at Vinous
The 2020 Chablis Bougros Grand Cru sports a fairly strong reduction on the nose that obscures the terroir expression. The palate is well balanced with good depth, slightly creamy in texture with notes of dried honey, orange pith and a dab of spice. It does not quite kick on towards the finish, which just needs more tension and bite. Not bad, but it could be better. Tasting blind at the BIVB in Chablis.
2020 Chablis Vaucoupin 1er Cru 89 pts at Vinous
The 2020 Chablis Vaucoupin 1er Cru has a nicely composed and focused bouquet, gaining intensity in the glass but retaining precision-dewy Granny Smiths and mown grass clippings. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, good depth and a lignt marine influence coming through, though not the most complex in show on the finish. But it should give a decade of drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis
2020 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru 89 pts at Vinous
The 2020 Chablis Montmains 1er Cru, aged for 12 months is stainless steel, has a little more details on the nose compared to its peers, lifted chalky and flint notes with grass clippings and nettle. The palate is well balanced with a sapid entry, decent depth and acidity, modest length with a touch of nettle and spice on the finish. Fine. Tasting blind at the BIVB in Chablis.
2021 Chablis Vosgros 1er Cru 91 pts at Vinous
The 2021 Chablis Vosgros 1er Cru, aged for 10 months in stainless steel, has a pretty and well-defined bouquet that develops attractive yellow plum and honeysuckle scents with aeration. The palate is well-defined with orange pith and light, white peppery notes. It remains quite linear and sappy in the mouth with a touch of sour lemon on the finish. I can see this envolving nicely in bottle – there’s pedigree in situ. Tasted blind at the BIVB tasting in Chablis
2020 Chablis Cuvée 1975 85 pts at Vinous
The 2020 Chablis Cuvée 1975 has a light and rather innocuous bouquet that never quite takes flight. The palate is underpinned by a twist of sour lemon, moderate depth with a rather short finish. So-so. Tasting blind at the BIVB in Chablis.
2021 Chablis Village 88 pts at Vinous
The Chablis Village has a tightly-wound, quite stony bouquet that unfurls with aeration, demonstrating fine breeding. The palate is well balanced with a saline entry; the 2021 has a fine sense of energy and harmony – all it lacks is much in the way of persistency. It should drink well for several years. Tasting blind at the BIVB in Chablis.
2021 Petit Chablis 87 pts at Vinous
The 2021 Petit Chablis has a touch of SO2 on the nose though that will be assimilated with time. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh, very citric with orange zest towards the zesty finish. Simple, but effective. Tasting blind at the BIVB in Chablis.
2020 Irancy Les Mazelots 83 pts at Vinous
The 2020 Irancy Les Mazelots feels a bit too simple on the nose with possibly some underripe fruit. Herbal. The palate is slightly bitter on the entry, lightweight in style but attenuates towards the finish. Tasting blind at the BIVB in Chablis.
