92 pts – Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2023
« This exotic wine has a deeper lemon colour and a tropical passion-fruit edge to the aromas that lead in with floral notes and a bit of spice. The texture is rich and dense, with balanced acidity and the extract to linger on the palate. The grapes are purchased from a grower who tends 1.5ha in the lieu-dit Epinottes down the slope from Sécher and sells all the grapes to Gueguen, who explains that the intensity is due to older vines bearing very small grapes due to court-noué (fanleaf virus). » Charles Curtis
91 pts – Bourgogne Chardonnay Côtes Salines 2023
« This satisfying value pick opens with moderate aromas of green apple and nectarine aromas with a suggestion of oyster shells and hawthorn flowers. The texture is silky, but moderate concentration and balanced acidity make this a wine for current drinking. The grapes are from a large parcel below the village of Préhy just outside of the Chablis appellation. Vinified and matured in tank to preserve the freshness of the fruit. » Charles Curtis
90 pts – Coteaux Bourguignons Sacy 2023
« This intriguing pale lemon-yellow wine made from the obscure Sacy grape shows aromas of nectarine, peach, and fresh white flowers. There is abundant freshness despite the warm finish to the growing season, and although the body is light, the is an agreeable balance on the pleasant finish. the grapes come from 0.40ha of old vines near St-Bris, planted in 1935. The variety is no longer authorised, but older plantings may still be used. interesting and different, if not profound. » Charles Curtis
89 pts – Bourgogne Rosé 2023
« This deceptively light-coloured rosé boasts pronounced aromas of ripe fraises des bois (wild strawberry) and cherry. The texture is supple and velvety, with balanced acidity at best and plenty of richness. The grapes are from the domaine’s vines outside the village of Préhy, where its 7.5ha includes 1.3ha planted to Pinot Noir. The fruit was picked late – some lots at 14.5% potential alcohol – to deliver this luscious wine that will certainly find a ready audience. » Charles Curtis
